The itinerary continues to BMICH. The Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall is what the acronym stands for. The majority of Sri Lanka’s international conferences and events that take place throughout the island are held here. This place is among the most well-known in Colombo.
Sight: Manning Market
This bustling market has been in operation for a long time and is the oldest in Sri Lanka. When you come here you can see how hardworking the locals are as they carry a range of goods through the market. You can browse the market and buy some of the different things that are for sale.
Sight: Fort
Colombo Fort, constructed by the Portuguese and Dutch, was eventually taken over by the British. The Presidential Gardens, the President’s House, the Fort Railway Station and the stately neo-classical building that houses the president of Sri Lanka are all closest to this location. It is now a magnificent building that was first built to house the British Governors.
Sight: Old Parliament Building
Originally housing Sri Lanka’s government, the old parliament building was constructed in the neo-baroque style. Today tourists are able to visit the place. It is an amazing architectural creation that is uplifting to see.
